Center for Mentoring Excellence is celebrating 2024’s National Mentoring Month by hosting a series of interviews with long-standing mentoring pairs to learn their secrets, best practices, and learn how their relationships have changed over the years. • In this interview CME’s CEO, Lisa Fain interviewed mentor, author, speaker, catalyst and former Microsoft Executive Jane Boulware and her mentee, Jules Pollack, Associate Director of Development for the Boys Girls Club of Bellevue, WA. • Jane's mantra of show up, stand up, lift up embodies the essence of what it means to be a mentor. Jules credits their meeting to her own willingness to say yes when the opportunity presented itself, as they met at a holiday get-together of a friend/family member. Jane shares that she believes it is just as important for mentors to share their failures as it is for them to share their successes. And, when someone says “yes” to being your mentor, they see the potential in their mentee and know that they are worthy of investing their time in.
