In “Final Judgment”, Hasim Rahman aka “The Rock” makes the 1st defenses of his IBF and WBC Titles in a rematch against Lennox Lewis; 7 months after his sensational knockout victory over 20-1 betting favorite Lewis in South Africa. • The knockout scored by Rahman was similar to that of Lewis’ shocking loss to Oliver McCall in 1994; a thunderous right hand shot that caught Lewis cold. Lewis was also a betting favorite against McCall. • Prefight records; Lewis 38(29)-2-1, Rahman 35(29)-2. • After the victory, Rahman opted to fight Brian Nielsen but Lewis exercised his rematch clause and had to take it to court due to Rahman’s refusal. The judge ultimately ruled in favor of Lewis. • This time, Lewis is in great shape weighing 246.5 pounds (7 pounds lighter than in the first bout) and now a 5-2 betting favorite. • Months leading into the fight, Rahman had been taunting and disrespecting Lewis in a bold display of confidence that he would once again triumph over Lewis. • From the opening bell, Lewis dictates the fight by setting up an authoritative and consistent jab to pacify Rahman. As early as the 2nd round, Rahman’s eyes were swollen. In addition, Lewis circles to the right constantly; a move unnatural to an orthodox fighter which effectively nullify Rahman’s right hand. • The Rock had no answers to Lewis’ strategy and determination to regain his titles, and in the 4th frame Lewis finished Rahman with a picture perfect left hook-right hook combination that leaves Rahman flat on his back while bleeding from his mouth. Struggling to get up, he fell onto the ropes as Cortez counted to 10. • This victory was named Knockout of the Year 2001 by Ring Magazine. • Lewis not only redeemed himself, he also become a 3x World Heavyweight Champion in the process. Additionally, he effectively avenged the only two blemishes in his record; as he also won against Oliver McCall in a 1996 rematch (although in bizarre circumstances), 2 years after he was knocked out by McCall in 1994. • In 2002 and 2003, Lewis scored stoppage wins over Mike Tyson (albeit a past best version) and a prime VItali Klitschko respectively before retiring with a final record of 41(32)-2-1. • He is widely regarded as the Best Heavyweight Boxer from the United Kingdom as well as one of the Greatest Heavyweights of All Time. • He held notable victories over Andrew Golota, Shannon Briggs, David Tua, Frans Botha, Michael Grant, Henry Akinwande, Lionel Butler, Phil Jackson, Oliver McCall, Zeljko Mavrovic, Mike Weaver, Mike Tyson, Gary Mason, Tony Tucker, Frank Bruno, Donovan Ruddock, Tyrell Biggs, Ray Mercer, Tommy Morrison, Vitali Klitschko Evander Holyfield. • Enjoy the highlights to one of the most spectacular wins in the history of world heavyweight championship bouts! • Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE.
