These are some Custom Made Piezoelectric Tweeters i've got for a cheap Speaker Project i'm currently working on. • It's a very promising custom design with smaller rectangular Piezo Element,it's supposed to be more controllable and give the option to use them as a normal Coil Tweeter, though in my opinion they sound nothing near the Genuine Motorola Piezos and the well made quality Audiophony Piezo Tweeters, aswell the normal cheap Coil Tweeters or Compression Drivers, their price is also way lower. • They have their Impedance Treated by Factory by using a Coil Wire Resistor short circuiting the terminals,it's about 8Ohms Nominal while an Untreated Piezo would have around 1kohm @ 1khz,and as high and as low as 100-3000ohms AC Impedance on the range they are allowed to play by a Crossover. • In this video i'm doing an actual measurement of DC and AC Impedance on the 1-20khz range to see how effective the Impedance Treating solution is,and i'm comparing the result with the Measurement i'm doing right after using a Piezo that is not treated. • To treat a Piezo you should add a load of your choice, for example an 8Ohm or 16Ohm Resistor on positive and negative contacts of the Piezo Element (Terminals). • After that you will be able to make the Piezo look like a normal Speaker to both the Amplifier and a Crossover/L-Pad,that means you can tweak them the normal way. • This is the Exported Impedance Graph (Smoothed 1/12) in case you can't investigate it in the video: • http://i54.tinypic.com/21mw7cj.png
