Behind that success, was not only the novelist herself, but people who played their respective roles in promoting Korean literature abroad. For today’s “Hallyu People” segment, we connect to one of them, which is Professor Anders Karlsson, a senior lecturer at the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies. Hello Professor Karlsson! • (SOA) • Q1. Professor Karlsson, you have translated two of author Han Kang’s books into Swedish together with your wife, Park Ok-kyoung who is a translator. You must have received tons of congratulations ever since Han received the Nobel Prize. • (WALTER) • Q2. If I’m correct, you expected Han to win the award? What made you believe so? • (SOA) • Q3. Author Han Kang visited Sweden for a couple of events back in March this year, marking the publishing of her book “I Do Not Bid Farewell. Reportedly she got a lot of attention, especially at the Umea International Literature Festival? • (SOA) • Q4. Professor, you and your wife Mrs. Park have translated Han’s “I Do Not Bid Farewell” and “The White Book” into Swedish. We’d love to know how your journey of translating these books began. What was your first impression of the novels when you read them and what made you think we must translate these? • (WALTER) • Q5. Professor Karlsson, British translator Deborah Smith along with author Han Kang received the 2016 Man Booker Prize for her outstanding translation of “The Vegetarian.” There is a link between Smith and you, tell us more about it and how did you feel about her win? • (SOA) • Q6. Currently you are working on the book “Cursed Bunny” by Bora Chung . How did you pick this one and how is the process going? • • Professor Karlsson, thank you so much for your insights today and your endeavors in promoting Korean literatur in Sweden. • And that brings us to the end of today's program. Thank you again, Walter. See you later this week. • • Q7. Mrs. Park is Korean, you are Swedish. May I ask how that process of working together on a translation project as a married couple is like? (Also, what were the most important aspects you considered when translating the books and what were the biggest challenges?) • Q8. What are your future plans in regards to introducing Korean literature abroad and are there any works by specific authors you are keen on translating? • #Sweden #Nobel_Prize #Literature #HanKang #Book #Translator #์Šค์›จ๋ด #๋…ธ๋ฒจ์ƒ #๋…ธ๋ฒจ๋ฌธํ•™์ƒ #ํ•œ๊ฐ• #์ฑ… #๋ฒˆ์—ญ #Arirang_News #์•„๋ฆฌ๋ž‘๋‰ด์Šค • ๐Ÿ“ฃ Facebook :   / arirangtvnews   • ๐Ÿ“ฃ Twitter :   / arirangtvnews   • ๐Ÿ“ฃ Homepage : https://v2.arirang.com/ • 2024-10-29, 14:00 (KST)
