The freight service passed in between the two stopping passenger services and had only just recently left London Gateway port at nearby Thames Haven on its way to a national distribution centre at Hams Hall just to the north east of Birmingham, where the containers that came off of a cargo ship would be sorted and distributed to where they respectively need to be. A good few minutes separated the train gaining the road across Thames Haven Junction, where it sat for about 15 minutes, and this level crossing activating, giving plenty of warning to get ready for the activation. • Due to the skewed angle, the barriers here are fairly long and are each of different lengths on one side. One alarm, as can be heard, has become 'pitch defective' and produces a rather rough-sounding but evenly-alternating tone, with the one other alarm here producing an unusually fast tone as if it were at a half barrier level crossing when more than one train passes. Crossing operations are taken care of from a workstation in the Upminster IECC in the far East of London, as it has been the case since the line's signalling was converted to this guise in 1996. • Train details sourced from: • Real Time Trains: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/sear... • Open Train Times: https://www.opentraintimes.com/maps • Traksy: https://traksy.uk/live • Filmed on: Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus in 1080p 60fps • Thanks for watching!
