IRISES IN MONET'S GARDEN by Claude Monet, 1900, Oil on canvas, 32 x 36 in (81 x 92 cm). THIS PAINTING IS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE AS A HAND-MADE OIL PRODUCTION FROM 1ST ART GALLEY: https://www.1st-art-gallery.com/Claud... • Claude Monet first saw Giverny from a train window. Admiring the light soft light and luscious vegetation, and the natural, rural beauty, he vowed to return to paint. So in 1883 he rented house… and lived there for next forty-three years until his death in 1926. • Always inspired by nature, Monet developed a keen interest in botany and created the fabulous gardens for which Giverny is now famous. Monet’s Garden is a painter’s garden designed to excite and stimulate the eye, and so that different flowers would bloom consecutively throughout the growing season from April through October, giving the painter a never ending array of subject matter. • This painting in particular entitled “Irises In Monet’s Garden,” depicts a long bed of light blue and violet irises. Painted at midday, the bright sun cuts a swath on a diagonal across the flowers. At either end the color of the flowers, shaded by trees, appear richer and darker. Look close, blooms are rendered with thick daubs of paint, giving the blossoms an almost three-dimension in appearance. On either side is a narrow dirt path that separates the flower beds, defining this formal garden. In the background through the leaves of the trees you can see Monet’s house, painted pink with green shutters. • Monet eventually purchased the house gardens in 1890 as well as the land across the road that would eventually become a lily pond. • Monet generally worked en plein air, meaning he spent most of his time painting outdoors, where he could observe first-hand the effects of light and color in nature, spending much less time in his studio. The garden brought him closer to nature’s beauty. He was not only the interpreter of nature but its creator. • Is it any wonder then that Monet proclaimed, “My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece.” • #irisesinmonetsgarden • #claudemoney • #irisespainting • #monetartwork • • MONET, MONET HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GRO... • Video footage and photo courtesy of The Claude Monet Foundation. • http://fondation-monet.com/en/ • Enchanted Journey by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...) • Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-... • Artist: http://incompetech.com/
