In this series, Prof. Noe looks at the “Heroides” (The Heroines), a set of poems by Publius Ovidius Naso. Ovid was a very popular poet who lived 43 B.C.-17 A.D. The “Heroides” are poems written as letters from mythological women to their male heroic counterparts. This particular letter is from Penelope and addresses her husband Odysseus, who has been absent from Ithaca for nearly 20 years.
