Update - our next ʻSong Across Hawaiʻiʻ collaboration will release soon! Join our email list to see it First: www.manamele.org • ====== • Hawai’i Aloha features dozens of Hawai‘i’s top artists across many genres and over 1,000 youth from 10 Hawaiian charter schools - in one epic song. Recorded live across 27 locations, this is Hawaiiʻs most widely known song, used to close important gatherings of all sizes. It is a song of unity and Aloha ‘Aina (Aloha for one’s birthplace, land and home). • About this collaboration: Mana Maoli, a Hawaiian nonprofit, teamed up with Playing for Change and 4 Miles as part of their Mana Mele Project. Mana Mele features a Music Multimedia Academy, and a Solar Mobile Studio that serves youth, as well as businesses, artists and the public - as a means to feed its programs. • About the Collective: Alongside the youth - on campus, in real world settings, and in this video, is the Mana Mele Collective - over 200 artists, engineers, and filmmakers who donate their time and talents to mentorships, recordings, concerts and ʻsocial enterpriseʻ services in support of these schools. • Connect with us! • Facebook:   / manamaolicollective   • Instagram:   / mana_maoli   • Website: https://www.manamele.org • For lyrics and a bit of history behind Hawaiʻi Aloha , visit http://www.manamele.org/#!blank-2/h0kaq • A special mahalo to: • Jack and Kimʻs Johnson ʻOhana Charitable Foundation and the Adminstration for Native Americans - While the video itself was a zero budget production, funds from both of our grantors helped cover instructor and mentor stipends for our year-round afterschool/elective classes across our 10 partner schools. It was during these classes that students learned Hawaiʻi Aloha, from singing and playing the song, to the related culture and history. • 4 Miles, LLC - who not only donated hundreds of hours in planning, shooting and editing the video aspect of the project, but put up substantial monies to cover their own travel costs, provide stipends for assistant crew members, etc • Playing for Change - PFCʻs live multi-location music video format served as the inspiration for this project. Founder/leader Mark Johnson was the catalyst for Mana Maoli to move on this idea discussed for some years prior to meeting him. He then frequently made time to assist with planning, visioning and coaching on the front end, engineering assistance and overall feedback during the production.
