Doug Young Wildwood Flower Solo Guitar

This is a fingerstyle interpretation of the folk and bluegrass classic Wildwood Flower. The tune dates from the 1800s, but was made popular by the Carter Family, and got a bit of a popular revival when Reese Witherspoon sang it in I Walk the Line, the Johnny Cash movie. I was messing with the tune flatpicking style, and started to wonder what it would sound like as a fingerstyle ballad instead of the bouncy way it's usually played. Others have played it fingerstyle - Chet Atkins, for example, but I wanted to think of it more like a Celtic ballad. The result is certainly a departure from the way it's usually heard, and I took a few liberties with the melody, but I hope it works. Played on a Don Sharp SJ, a stunning guitar - Ziricote and Italian Spruce, in DADGAD tuning. The studio version of this tune appears on the AGF Hand Made Music CD, http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/fo... Tab is available free at http://www.dougyoungguitar.com/tabs.php
