Mid shot Hudson watching as decision on Lockerbie appeal is read out (UPSOUND (English) Lord Cullen, Presiding Judge: For the reasons given in the opinion, with which we all concur, we have concluded that none of the grounds of appeal is well founded. The appeal will accordingly be refused. ) • 3. SOUNDBITE (English) Paul Hudson, Father of Lockerbie victim: • Well as the judges said, the appeal points were unfounded. There were many scenarios or possibilities that were broadcast by the defence, that were considered by the trial court, as well as at least some of them by this appeal court. Possibilities without proof do not make for evidence in a court of law. • 4. Close up television monitor showing court room • 5. SOUNDBITE (English) Paul Hudson, Father of Lockerbie victim: • Clearly I think the US policy has now been vindicated, first with respect to accusing these people of the bombing, and secondly through the UN imposing sanctions on Libya, as well as the conditions they now have for removing those sanctions. • 6. Cutaway Hudson watching reading of opinion • 7. SOUNDBITE: (English) Paul Hudson, Father of Lockerbie victim: • I think Libya now has a clear choice. They can take the path that leads to, eventually, to rejoining the community of nations, and normalisation to at least some degree, even with the US. Or it can continue on this other path that it's been on, perhaps less so in recent years, the path of promoting and advocating terrorism, protecting terrorists, financing terrorists, sometimes, as in the case of Lockerbie, actually carrying out these terrorist acts. • 8. Cutaway Hudson watching reading of opinion • 9. SOUNDBITE (English) Paul Hudson, Father of Lockerbie victim: • I think it does bring some closure, although that word is something that most family members feel is not completely appropriate. But it does bring at least this chapter to a close, and hopefully we can now go forward and have a full justice result for this whole matter. • 10. Cutaway desk with monitors, empty chair • 11.
