Go to http://www.cuckooforclocks.net/ for more on This August Schwer “Swiss Chalet” style cuckoo clock which features a German oompha band playing their instruments outside of a Swiss chalet. August Schwer is a family-run clock factory located in Schoenwald, which is in the heart of the Black Forest in Germany. They have been making premium-quality cuckoo clocks since 1885 and have won the distinguished Clock of the Year Award many times(including 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010). • From its bell tower steeple to its pendulum, this clock is filled with intricate detail work. The shingles on the pitched roof are handmade. There are plenty of deep carvings including a horse pulling a hay cart, a cat sitting on the hand rail of the porch, a woman with her trusty dog standing at her feet and a water trough. To the right is a pile of logs, a ladder leading up to another porch, some barrels and of course the oompha band. There are green shutters with heart cutouts on the tiny windows, an old tree next to the horse drawn carriage and greenery and small rocks are strewn throughout the clock. • This clock also has several moving elements. There are twirling dancers on the balcony near the top, the woman pulls on a rope to ring the bell in the bell tower on the roof, the oompha band moves in unison while playing their instruments while the hand-painted, life-like wooden cuckoo peeks out of the metal hinged door near the top. The clock face is a darker color wood with white hands and roman numerals. • This clock features an 8-day, mechanical Regula movement from the market leader SBS-Feintechnik, also located in the German Black Forest. The rack strike movement is extremely long lasting and allows the hands to be turned left or right without damaging the mechanism. To wind it up, you simply pull on the end of the chain once every 8 days. The clock also has a night shut-off. This clock’s music box is from the market leader Reuge in Switzerland. The music movement has 2 melodies and 36 notes and changes between the Happy Wanderer and Edelweiss every hour. • This beautiful addition to your home comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Black Forest Clock Association or Verein die Schwarzwalduhr (VdS) and a 5 year warranty. The Black Forest Clock Association authenticates mechanical-clockwork clocks that are produced in the Black Forest region of Germany.
