Tour of the Hospital Ship USNS Mercy

This shows a brief tour I took inside the United States Navy Hospital Ship. I was a part of a delegation of Filipino health care practitioners invited to partake the tour. Not everybody can get a chance to go inside and have a tour. • This is a part of a series of videos depicting the US Navy's Tour of Olongapo City and the Medical Skills Exchange that ensued. To view the whole playlist, tune in here: http://bit.ly/USNavyOlongapoExchange • The first part of the video shows us getting to the upper decks of the ship where patients are triaged and serves as an Emergency Room. As we go to the lower parts of the deck, you can see that they have specialty rooms set up much like an upside down hospital with ICU's on a deck below and surgery rooms on much lower levels. • We were also able to see marines and navy personnel training alongside nurses and doctors. Drills are conducted regularly to make decision-making second nature. The ship answers to distress calls to most major natural disasters in the world.
