The Ford Five Hundred is the full-size sedan that was introduced around September 2004 for the model year 2005. It was built on the Ford D3 platform that shared with its twin, Mercury Montego and the Ford Freestyle SUV. It come with 3.0-liter Duratec V6 engine produced 203 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission (for FWD) or a CVT transmission (for AWD). But underneath the looks is a pretty impressive collection of attributes: huge interior, good handling, all-wheel drive, decent gas mileage, lots of safety equipment, and a nice high seating position. • Due to the engine and conservative styling became points of criticism, and sales fell markedly short of company projections — requiring substantive discounts by its second model year.
