(5 Jun 1958) The world's first Vertical Take Off Airliner is the Fairey-Rotodyne. Test Pilot Ronald Gellatly showed how it works: it is two machines in one. First - a helicopter, with a Rotor 90 feet in diameter, using compressed air from two propeller-turbine engines. Now, the helicopter becomes an airliner, with a cruising speed of 185.
