Cardio confessions is something I do on IG often. • Several people reached out to me to ask what happened at Masters Nationals, as they know what my physique typically looks like and what I looked like on stage was a very poor representation of myself. • First, to all those who congratulated me, much appreciated. I don't care where I place, it is all about looking my best, which I did not. • For those who thought I should have placed higher, your frame of reference is skewed. You are like the little kid who thinks their 165 lbs dad can beat up all the other dads in the world. I placed exactly where I should have. Masters Nationals is the most competitive masters show in the NPC. It is our Olympia. I am not putting down the Universe or North Americans, but if you want to put yourself up against the best of the best, you do Masters Nationals. • So what happened? I arrived in PA on Sunday evening weighing 211 lbs. My cutoff for light heavy weight is 198.25 lbs. This is not a hard cut, as I knew I would drop around 5 lbs overnight. Then I would just need to drop another 8 lbs or so by weigh-ins Tuesday at 4 pm. However, I let some friends get in my head. They didn't talk me into, they just put the idea in my head to do classic, which for my height the cut off is 194 lbs. I knew I could do it, but also knew it was dangerously close to a 10% drop, which is typically fatal. I know some of you all are saying I have seen wrestlers, powerlifters, strongmen, etc... drop 17 lbs in that short time. Yes, but I was already completely depleted of glycogen, so the only thing I could pull was water. A 10% loss of fluid is almost always fatal. I decided to do it anyways. • I executed my water cut protocol. I was walking the streets of Pittsburgh in full sweats for miles when it was about 95 degrees. I even walked to the hotel to do weigh-ins, as I didn't trust myself to drive in that state and I was by myself. I made weight, but the damage was done. I could not fill back up for the life of me. That night I had a bunch of pedialyte with my 120 oz of water, 1000 grams of carbs and 150 grams of fat. I woke up the next morning and I was 193.5 lbs. The food and water did nothing. I was on stage at 8 am, flat as a pancake. I made first call out, but was on the outside, so I knew I was either 5th or 6th. The top 5 got to do the night show, so I didn't want to go smash a burger and fries between pre-judging and finals. When I arrived at finals, they told me I was not in the top 5, so I knew I had placed 6th. • I went back to my hotel and put down some more food, water and pedialyte. Total that day was another 1000 grams of carbs, 150 grams of fat and 120 oz of water. I was laying in my cot and at 7:30 pm my hands and feet seized up with the snap of a finger. I tried to sit up and my groin, quad, hamstring and abs seized up. The only thing I could do was lay there with most of my muscles fully contracted. I was looking at my multi-mineral thinking, I have to get to that before it's too late, but I cannot move. After a couple hours I was begging for my heart to seize up and get it over with. Right around 1:30 am, my body just suddenly relaxed. I was able to get up and get some salt, potassium and other minerals with more water. I went to bed and woke up a few hours later. I stepped on the scale and was still only 195 lbs. My knees hurt so bad from my quads being contracted I could barely walk or stand. I still went out that morning and did pre-judging for bodybuilding, but if you are too flat for classic you are definitely going to look bad against your peers bodybuilding. I did not place well. • That is what happened. If you cast a stone, make one negative comment, I will block you and never speak to you again. I don't care who you are. You should probably look in the mirror anyways. I know what I am doing to my body and assume the risk. I pull my own labs at least every other month if not monthly to see where my health is at and address any issues. You are likely obese yet do nothing to correct your deficiency. • For all your supplement needs visit Mutant at https://www.iammutant.com/?aff=254 and use code LEGRANDE20 for 20% off and 1st Detachment at https://1stdetachment.com?sca_ref=3888543.wq3WmPy8IL and use code LEE10 for 10% off!
