Ocular melanosis is pigmentation in the eye. It is usually unilateral. This is genetic predisposition the white part of the eye , which is called as sclera can cause patchy white pigmentations. This pigmentations can even affect the iris and the other structures of the body and it can affect other structures of the eye and it is called as nevus of ota. Because of the increased pigmentation. It is seen in the Asian population. There is the development of something called as the pigmental glaucoma. Pigmentary glaucoma is a condition where the pressure in the eye increases because of increased ocular pigmentation, which goes and blocks the trabecular meshwork or the drainage channels of the eye and lead to increase in pressure. Occasionally these patients may be associated with a tumor inside called the ocular melanomas. So the increased pigmentation in the eye may be associated with increased pigmentation of the iris. So there may be a difference in the colour of both the eyes. The eye with the black pigmentation may be darker than the other eye. So ocular melanosis or melanosis oculi may be associated with other conditions. So one needs to have a thorough eye examination including intraocular pressure checkup in patients who have got increased pigmentations in the eye. • World's Largest Video Heath Platform is now in Hindi • Subscribe to -    / @doctorscirclehindi   for HINDI videos • Get to know your specialist personally •    / @doctorscircle-knowyourdoctor
