O God, My Faithful God was written by Johann Heermann (1585-1647) and translated by Catherine Winkworth (1827-78). It has been paired with the tune O GOTT, DU FROMMER GOTT, which appeared in the third edition of Neu-vermehrtes Gesangbuch, published in Meiningen in 1693.
