One of the most common questions people have about their back is, “Is my posture okay?” We are told to stand straight or sit upright when we’re kids. There is wisdom in this advice. It is not so good for our back, and our health overall, to sit with a slouched and rounded spine for hours a day. • Tissues are overstretched toward the back of the body and compressed toward the front. The back muscles are underutilized and weaken. It also negatively impacts our energy and psychology and puts the spine at a disadvantage when under load. • The key to good posture is not one single position, but the capacity to move to many positions. The centerpoint of that capacity of movement is the alignment known as a neutral spine—a position where the curves of your spine, especially your low back, are neither too much nor too little. You don’t have to stay in this position all day, but you should return to it repeatedly and make it a habit. • Here is a practice and explanation video from the online Svastha program, Yoga for Your Low Back, guiding you in a neutral spine in the bridge—moving from a relaxed position lying on your back and working through raising your hips. • ✨ Learn lifelong movement skills and yoga therapy in our online program, Yoga for Your Low Back, with Dr. Mohan at: https://on.svastha.net/3zog2s5 • SUBSCRIBE to our newsletter for the latest updates on our programs and more ► https://www.svastha.net/signup • About Svastha Yoga Ayurveda • The word Svastha in Sanskrit refers to the state of complete well-being and balance. • Svastha Yoga Ayurveda was originated by A.
