Want a taste of what Contra Dancing, Asheville style means? The Old Farmer's Ball on Thursday night dance was rocked to rafters of the Morris Pavilion by the Syncopaths with Tamara McGovern calling. This California contemporary contra dance band is loved by the Asheville contra dance crowd for its high energy performance and rough and ready rhythm. This Celtic Supergroup is comprised of • Ryan McKasson on fiddle; Ashley Broder on mandolin; Christa Burch on bodhran (and vocals); and Jeffrey Spero on keyboard.
