Stereochemistry L16 Nomenclature of Prosterogenic molecules ProRS amp ProEZ Pseudoasymmetry

This lecture discusses the nomenclature of prosterogenic molecules. The same CIP rule will be applicable. The ligand for which we want to give the naming has to give higher priority than the other holomorphic ligand. The concept of pseudo-asymmetric molecules is also explained. This molecule contains more than one chiral center but overall the molecule is a meso compound. For denoting R, S nomenclature auxiliary R, S naming are considered. Enatiotopic faces are given names Re and Si from the first two words of Rectus and Sinister respectively. The same priority rule is applied.
