This is Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California. It’s named for the crazy and twisted trees that thrive in the park. Joshua Tree is all desert with rugged mountains of rock rising straight up. At over 1200 square miles, Joshua Tree is larger than the state of Rhode Island. • We’re here to do three things: • 1. Check out an oasis in the middle of the desert • 2. Climb our way through the Chasm of Doom • 3. Scramble up and down and epic wall of rock • Fun Fact: Joshua Trees aren’t actually trees, they’re plants that are part of the yucca family and they only grow in the Mojave Desert. These oasis are few and far between in the desert. The trail to this oasis is only a mile and a half.
