The hip adductors shape the surface anatomy of the medial thigh, with the gracilis being the most superficial of the medial thigh muscles. • The gracilis extends from the inferior border of the pubic symphysis to the superficial pes anserinus on the medial aspect of the tibia. • As most of the other hip adductors, the gracilis is innervated by the obturator nerve. The actions of the gracilis muscle are flexion of the hip and knee joint, internal rotation of the knee and adduction of the thigh. • In this video tutorial we will give you a brief overview on the anatomy of the gracilis muscle, its attachments, functions and innervation: • 0:11 adductors of the hip • 0:55 innervation of the gracilis muscle • 1:09 gracilis origin and insertion • 1:29 functions of the gracilis • Want to test your knowledge on the adductors of the thigh?
