BLOCKING | TECHNIQUE | ALL SKILL LEVELS • Learn volleyball skills and volleyball practice from Dr. Gylton Da Matta, a member of the International Volleyball Federation technical development committee. Watch how to integrate this drill into your volleyball lessons. The Blocking static is now dynamic. It consists of blocking from players' personal space but using the semi-flexed arms as leverage to jump up and penetrate the vertical plane of the net with both hands open and firm, shoulder-width apart. Volleyball blocking is defined as deflecting the ball coming from your opponent’s spiker. Blocking is used to deflect the ball coming from a spiker. The goal is to block, intercept and absorb the ball back into the opponent's court. • 🏐The purpose of this skill is to stop the ball from getting on your side of the net thereby preventing your opponent from scoring. • 🔑 The key to an effective block is timing. • 1️⃣Ensure accurate timing. • 2️⃣Remain stationary with upwards momentum. • 3️⃣Utilize arms to increase area that is covered. • 📈 Practice your stationary blocking at home or on a court with your teammates.
