Have you ever wonder if whitening toothpaste does actually work? • First of all it is normal that your teeth become increasingly yellow, as this is part of our normal aging process. Over time your tooth enamel breaks down (which is white) and the underlying dentin (the bone in your teeth) thickens, which is yellow. This process can be further accelerated by dental plaque and damage to the enamel. • Now to make your teeth whiter there are two main options. • You could make the underlying dentin more white. This can be done by bleaching your teeth with hydrogen peroxide. • The other option is aimed at reducing dental plaque with fluoride. And by making your teeth enamel more white with an abrasive effect. Sanding it down. This is done by toothpaste brands all over the world with whitening toothpaste. However the actual effect is minimal. • So can whitening toothpaste actually whiten your teeth?
