There are many methods to fight fungus gnats. I have only covered two in this video, that should be used together. The reason why a lot of the times mosquito bits don't work is their incorrect usage. So let me try to help with a few tips🙂⠀ • ⠀ • ➡️Mosquito Bits are a biological way to fight gnats. The pellets are made of corn cob. They contain bacteria Bacilus Thurigiensis Israelensis (BTI) that is dead, but still effective against gnats. Fungus gnat larvae eat BTI and die.⠀ • ➡️It has been found that 4 tablespoons of Mosquito Bits per half gallon of water works well. I've used 1 tablespoon per gallon of water and still had excellent results. But you can safely increase the amount of mosquito bits if you want.⠀ • ➡️Water ALL of the soil. If you miss a spot, if some of the eggs and larvae are there, they will stay alive and continue the procreation cycle⠀ • ➡️Use mosquito bits for at least 2-3 weeks. It takes time to kill all the larvae.⠀ • ➡️As an alternative way of application, if you don't like the look of corn cobs in your pots, place mosquito bits in a cheesecloth or a stocking and place in water. After 30 minutes, take out the cheesecloth and use the water for watering. Discard the bits in trash. Some people have issues with bits turning moldy in soil-another reason to remove them.⠀ • ➡️How long can BTI be effective in water? It is recommended to use them within 24-48 hours. In liquid formulations BTI is very susceptible to degradation from UV light and temperature. In dry form it is much more stable. You might be lucky and it might still be effective after a week, but to make sure it's effective, use it within 24-28 hours.⠀ • ➡️You can find the link to the products in the description • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • PRODUCTS I USE TO GET RID OF PESTS: • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - bottle sprayer, the most natural method, just wash the pests off your plants • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - neem oil ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - insecticidal soap • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - horticultural oil • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - systemic insecticide (keeps you pest free for a full year) • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - nematodes • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - hydrogen peroxide • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - diatomaceous earth • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - Mosquito Bits for fungus gnats (work wonders in combination with yellow sticky notes) • ➡️ https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - yellow sticky notes • HOW TO DIAGNOSE PESTS https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - Blips lenses, attach to your cell phone and examine your plants https://www.mrhouseplant.com/recommen... - an excellent microscope with 1,000x magnification, use it with your computer or phone • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • SUBSCRIBE: • ➡️ YT: https://youtube.com/c/MrHouseplant?su... • ➡️ IG: / nikolicvladan (139,000 followers) • ➡️ Tik Tok: / mrhouseplant (241,000 followers) • ➡️FB group Houseplant Love (10,000 members): / houseplantlove • ➡️FB: / mrhouseplant (190,000 followers) • ➡️ TW: / mrhouseplant • ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • Let me know if you have any questions :)
