Does the Name Walter Breaks the Alphabetical Pattern in Alien Franchise? • • True Alien fans know that android names in Alien franchise follow an alphabetic order. Not sure for what reason this was started in the first place but it became of the main • features of the alien francise.Ridley Scott is 79 years old and at that age everybody would start THINKING ABOUT the nature and death and the creator so I think this is one • of the reasons the focus of the alien franchise shifts from xenomorphs to androids and engineers in order to explore existential themes. • People expected an android in Alien covenant to be named Eugene or something that starts with an E but after descovering that the name is actually Walter many fans were dispointed and thought that Ridley abandoned m the alphebetical pattern that has been kept for more than 40 years. That is actually not true and I'm gonna explain how the name Walter perfectly fits into the pattern but in a more ogininal way that a very few • people would expect. • The name Walter also brings some specific implications for the future of the Alien franchise. • In the original alien movie the android was named Ash, in Aliens it was Bishop, in Alien resurection there female android Call, • then in 2012 Prometheus, it was David conformig to the original pattern. And suddenly in Alien Covenant, the new android is named Walter. • In fact name the alphabetic pattern has been already broken in Prometheus since Weylands daughter is named Vickers which starts with a V that goes exactly before W. • If you pay close attention, then you'll notice many clues that Vickers is in fact android just like David, which is actually an easter egg to the original Alien where nobody knew that Ash was synthetic. • Here are some main proofs that Vickers is an android. The medical pod in her appartment is • designed for only men, which we discover when Shaw tries to use it. So that wouldn't make any sense for a female human to have it, implying that Vickers is an android. She's appeared to be physically stronger that an average human • which allowed her to puch David against a wall so easily. Also when captain guesses to she's an adroid she invites him in his room either to prove that she human or because she feels that captain is balckmailing her and if • she doesn't sleep with him, he'll tell the crew that she's an android. Ridley Scott himself inderictly confirmed that she is in fact an android in an interiview by saying that there might be 2 androids on the board. • So, why the pattern suddenly changed from David to Vickers and Walter. • There are tow explanations the first one is from interview with Ridley but the second one actually explains Walter and Vickers fit into the original pattern. • In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Ridley Scott confirmed that names David and Walter is an hommage to the producers of the Alien franchise that have been on board since the first film. • David for David Giler and Walter for Walter Hill It is a huge easter that links new alien movies to the original one. Ridley also said that Hill and Giler don't even know that androids are named after them which is funny. • The second explanation is more interesting and it supprised me that I haven't thought about it earlier. • Many people expected the android name in alien covenant to start with an E and the next android would be F and so on but there is a flaun in this logic because • it's very inlikely that procuders would go throught the entire alphebet making 26 alein movies. • In fact W is the inverse of D if we count it from the end. D is the 4th letter from the start and W is the 4th letter from the end. Not only it underlines that David and Walter look the same but also that theyr have opposite beliefs which is illustrated by the • inverse position of W. • If we take into consideration that Rielty said that he wants to make 3 more alien movies to finaly link the sequels to the origanl alien movie, the name Walter is a huge hint to suggests that • there are gonna be 3 more androids for X Y Z before the franchise links back to the original alien movie. • As I mentioned before the pattern changed from the beggining of the alphabet to the end in Prometheus with Vickers but not many people realised that. • It's really good news because we'll finaly get an explanation who was the space jockey and why the ship crashed on lv 223 in future alien films. • Thank you guys for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video.
