Footage from the police interview shows a wide-eyed McNeil with blood on his lips (left), sitting against a fence with his arms behind his back (top right) at Sydney's infamous Kings Cross strip on New Year's Eve 2013. McNeil, 27, who is now awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of manslaughter in the Supreme Court on Thursday, can be heard explaining what sparked the fight that eventually led to Daniel Christie's (bottom right) death. 'They asked us if we wanted caps or pills and I said no ,' McNeil said about a group of teenagers who approached him and his girlfriend. 'There was a scuffle and they pushed me and I pushed them there and, as you can see my mouth and my lip #8230; it was one punch.' McNeil is expected to return to court for sentencing on August 21.
