Hydration vs Moisture. Which one do you need? Hydrator vs Moisturizer. Difference between hydration vs moisturization. • Moisturizer for ALL SKIN TYPES • ►https://amzn.to/3uWQK5P • • Hydrator for ALL SKIN TYPES • ►https://amzn.to/3HVWnVK • TIMESTAMPS | CHAPTERS • 00:00 - Intro • 0:52 - What is Hydration? • 1:32 - What is Moisturizing? • 2:12 - Which one do you need? • 3:20 - How to choose products? • Water plays a central role in making sure your skin stays healthy, smooth and radiant, which is why every skin care aisle is loaded with products that promise to hydrate and moisturize skin. But hydration and moisturization is not the same thing and knowing the difference will help you make the best choice when targeting your skin’s specific needs. • What is hydration in skin • Hydration refers to the water content within the cells themselves that leads them to swell, become plump and bouncy. If water flows out of the cells and the cells are dehydrated, they can become shriveled affecting the surface of the skin. So for example when you use a topical hydrator, you’re infusing your cells with water, to do 2 things: improve your skin’s ability to absorb moisture and improve your skins ability to absorb nutrients. • What is moisturization in skin • Moisturizing is about trapping and sealing in moisture to do 3 things: build the skin’s protective barrier, prevent water loss and keep the skin soft and smooth. Which is what topical moisturizers do, they do the trapping, while hydrators do the absorbing. And for the most part, Moisturizers are oil-based ingredients called occlusive agents, such as petrolatum or mineral oil, and emollients like esters and plant oils. They work by creating a seal on the surface of skin which prevents water from escaping, which goes back to, you guessed it, trapping moisture. • Hydration vs Moisture • Lets say your skin is on the dry side, and you are more prone to dry, flaky skin, and your skin has a hard time locking in moisture. Thats a tell tale sign that you are in need of a moisturizer. Which is super useful during the winter when your skin is more prone to dryness. • But now lets say your skin is dull with fine lines becoming more prominent with wrinkling occurring, you can say that your skin is on the dehydrated side. Which is a tell tale sign that you are in need of a hydrator. And remember, Dehydrated skin means the cells are parched and starved of water. When this happens, they are not plump and volumized and appear shriveled which brings out those wrinkles and fine lines. • Moisturizer vs Hydrator • The ultimate goal with both cases is that Ideally, we want hydrated, bouncy, swollen cells that have topical moisture locked into them, this way we can say that the skin is both hydrated and moisturized. • And lastly, to choose which moisturizer is best for your skin type, my best recommendation is that For acne-prone skin, use a light, oil-free moisturizer usually in the form of a lotion. They have less oil and more water content. • DISCLAIMER: • This video is for information only and should not be used for the diagnosis or treatment of medical conditions.
