For episode 73 of A MOMENT OF TIKI I welcome multi-talented artist Tony Canepa to the Lagoon of Mystery! Tony is an increasingly in-demand tiki artist who has done amazing work for the likes of Hidden Harbor in Pittsburgh, Inside Passage in Seattle and, of course, Tiki Tatsu-Ya in Austin. He's designed all manner of glassware, tiki mugs, menus, swizzle sticks, stickers, matchbooks, menus... you name it! Prior to venturing into tiki he did a great deal of marketing and design work for minor league baseball teams (among others) across the country--still does, in fact. We sit down over a couple of drinks to discuss Tony's creative process, how designing say, a Zombie glass differs from a ceramic mug, why it's not a good idea to design a die-cut menu without first checking the registration marks and a whole lot more.
