A gamelan is a classical Indonesian music ensemble found among the Indonesian islands of Java, Madura, Bali, and Lombok. It is built in many different ways, out of materials including bamboo and bronze. Gamelan music often accompanies dance, music, and shadow- theater plays called wayangs. He was raised in a family of performing artists. He started to drum for shadow play performances at the age of eight and studied at the High School of the Arts SMKI and the Academy of Indonesian Arts STSI in Surakarta.
