Egypt is officially a sovereign state that extends over the African and Asian continents. It creates the Sinai Peninsula on the land of Southeast Asia. Egypt is an intercontinental country. It is mainly based on North Africa, the Mediterranean region, the African continent, the Nile, the Islamic world and the Red Sea. Area is 1,010,000 square kilometers (390,000 square meters). Egypt is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea in the north, Gaza in the southeast, and Israel in the east, the Red Sea in the east, South Sudan in the west and Libya in the west.
