After wrapping up our adventure in the breathtaking Dehing Patkai National Park, we eagerly ventured into the second leg of our journey: the mystical Mishmi Hills. As we embarked on our first day's journey, we found ourselves crossing the longest river bridge in all of India, a magnificent feat of engineering that left us in awe of human ingenuity and the raw power of nature. • Upon reaching our destination, the Frogmouth campsite, the story behind its name unfolded before our very eyes. It was said to be named after the elusive Hodgson's Frogmouth, a creature of the night that dwelled in the dense forests of Mishmi Hills. Excitement coursed through our veins as we anticipated the possibility of encountering this enigmatic bird. • As night descended upon the campsite like a velvet cloak, we gathered around a crackling fire, sharing tales of our adventures and dreams of what lay ahead. Suddenly, a hush fell over the group as we heard a soft rustling in the nearby trees. With bated breath, we turned our gaze skyward and there, perched gracefully amidst the shadows, was the Hodgson's Frogmouth female, a vision of ethereal beauty. • In that moment, time seemed to stand still as we drank in the sight of this rare and majestic creature, its haunting call echoing through the night like a melody from another world.
