THE WEST HIGHLAND WAY VS THE EAST HIGHLAND WAY | Hiking trails UK • How long is the East Highland Way? Is the West Highland Way difficult? Which trail is more beautiful? Over the last few years I have hiked and wild camped both of these fantastic hiking trails, along with plenty of other UK trails, but these two trails are my favourites… in this video I explain why! • We take a good look at both of these Scottish trails and compare the logistics, difficulty and beauty … so if you were wondering which trail is for you? Watch on to find out. • The West Highland Way is 96 miles long, it starts in Milngavie and travels north through the Scottish highlands to Fort William. It is Scotlands most popular hiking trail, 35000 people attempt the route each year! Let’s find out why? • The East Highland Way is slightly shorter at 82 miles, and starts where the WHW ends.. at Fort William. The route travels east across the Highlands and ends at Aviemore. It is a fairly new route which was only devised in 2007 and due to this is substantially quieter, however… I have a feeling this won’t be the case for long!
