Puffins Razorbills and Murres at Machias Seal Island July 2023

Recommendations: Ideal lens is 100-400mm, or 150/200-600mm with 70-200mm. ~1.5 hrs. inside the blinds. Once inside the blinds you can not leave until the crew come to get you thus you can not switch blinds. Not much time to switch lenses because you are shooting all the time. Do not recommend 400 or 600mm prime lenses. Puffins are too close!! The blinds have VERY tight space with windows that are on average 8 x10 . Each blind will be shared by 3-4 people thus rotate to view all four sides. There is not enough space for tripod or monopod or big camera backpack. However, I strongly recommend to bring backpack to bring camera / lens / water / sandwich / snack. Backpack will help you free your hands when you get on / off the boat / stiff / island. The island boat ramp is VERY slippery with seaweeds, but there is handrail with assistance from the crew.
