If the skin is not too lax, a liposuction with liposculpture should be enough. If the skin is lax, then removal of the excess skin and possible muscle plication, which means approximating the muscle in the midline, is indicated, if desired. A smaller procedure will have the smaller downtime, less risk, and less cost. • Liposuction of the stomach. • Liposuction is excellent for getting rid of stubborn fat, fat pockets, and liposculpture helps to sculpt the area after liposuction is done. It's performed through small 3-6mm incisions, average, located in hidden areas of the skin. The love-handles and the tummy, are common areas of liposuction and liposculpture. • Tummy Tuck - Abdominoplasty. • Liposuction removes the fat from the problem areas, and Liposculpture sculpts and shapes the form of the body in that area. When you have loose skin, or lax skin, a protruding stomach that gets larger after a meal, you may consider the fact that your muscles are lax and you may benefit from tucking them in! Thence the name tummy-tuck. When viewed laterally, your stomach looks flat after a tuck and more defined thanks to the liposculpture. The skin is removed with cutting, as well as the fat pad underneath it. And this may remove stretch marks and cellulite, or an old tattoo as well. The belly-button can be either pushed down and pulled back up, or a new belly button created, also called neoumbilicoplasty. Realistic expectations are important in every case. • About the Mini Tummy Tuck. • Mini tummy tuck is indicated when the stomach protrudes forward below the belly-button, only. When the entire stomach is seen forward, we need a full tummy tuck but when the issue is in the lower stomach, or lower abdomen, and mini tummy-tuck is in order. We can also approximate the muscle in the lower abdomen during the mini tummy tuck. The scar is smaller than in the full tummy tuck, and the downtime as well. • Which one to chose? Liposuction, Tummy tuck or Abdominoplasty, or Mini Tummy tuck? • It all depends on each individual preference, and realistic expectations to be discussed during your interview with your surgeon. Every case is different, and people heal and recover differently. That's why results do vary individually. Liposuction cost is a consideration, as well and the abdominoplasty cost.
