Has a psychologist ever asked you to draw a clock, and what are they secretly testing you for? • This clock drawing test is an evaluation technique where they have you draw a clock completely from scratch, including the circle, the numbers, and then set the clock to a designated time. Can you guess what they are testing you for? • Typically, it’s screening for early signs of dementia, or now medically called neurocognitive disorders, but it may also indicate other issues or deficits. One of the first signs is not understanding what the clock hands represent, while later signs are failing to label the numbers correctly. Specifically, it may also indicate graphical difficulties, stimulus bound responses, conceptual and spatial deficits, and perseveration. • Also, this test must be conducted and interpreted by a trained clinician, don’t just do this with your grandpa in your kitchen and use it as proof to him that you need to take his keys away! • Follow for more. • • Podcast Channel: • / @shaked • Merch: • https://www.shop.derekvanschaik.com • All the equipment I use: • https://www.derekvanschaik.com/equipment • Follow me and also send me your future video ideas via social media: • Instagram: • / derekvanschaik • TikTok: • / derekvanschaik • Twitter: • / derekvanschaik • Facebook: • / derekvanschaik • Website: • https://www.derekvanschaik.com
