Walk through unique open air Art Exhibition during Fasnacht 2023, more precisely Lantern Exhibition filmed on Monday in the evening, the first day of Basler Fasnacht. Basler Fasnacht (Basel carnival) is the biggest Switzerland Carnival. Fasnacht 2023 in Basel happened between 27th February and 1st March. After the Cortège / Fasnachtsumzug (parade), all the Cliques display their elaborately designed lanterns on the Münsterplatz (the square in front of the Basel Cathedral). The lanterns reveal their true magic after dark when they are lit for the first time during the Morgestraich, then take part in Monday Cortège to be finally brought to the Münsterplatz in the Monday evening. Lanterns are covered with caricatures of Basel politicians and other famous personalities, hot and controversial topics as well as paintings related to the city of Basel. Most of the lanterns also contain very sarcastic verses mostly formulated in Swiss German dialect.
