A loch near Rannoch Station. Situated on a collapsed granite basin at 282m above sea level, it has a substantial beach at the eastern end. The surrounding area is the 50 square miles of Rannoch moor. Nearby there is a footpath from the station, past the loch and onto Glencoe. There are no through roads nearby so the loudest sound here is my footsteps on the beach. • Allow around 2 hours 30 to 3 hours if driving from Edinburgh. Park at Rannoch Station car park and walk from there. Food available at the Station tea room. Around 3-4 trains serve the station in each direction on a typical day. The next station north is Corrour, the highest mainline railway station in the UK and with no roads serving Corrour, one of the most remote. • A stunning place with views to the distant hills, complete silence and its own unique ecology, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan... • More info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loch_La...
