The best way however • is to install your grab bar screws directly into grab bar backing which would be mounted behind your sheetrock wall. • Are you that lucky that you have grab bar backing in your wall? Most of the time you won't have it......unless you • installed it in your new construction wall prior to installing the drywall. Sure you might catch the edge of one of • the existing wall studs in your existing sheetrock wall....but what about the other end of the grab bar...... or • both ends if you want your grab bar located in such a way where both ends of your grab bar are just resting on the • sheetrock with no backing behind them?
