Oil and gas discoveries will bring major spin-offs for locals • Minister of Mines and Energy Executive Director Penda Ithindi says Namibia's recent oil and gas discoveries have a ripple effect. • Ithindi said this yesterday at the two-day Southern African Customs Union (SACU) interstate oil committee (IOC) seminar in Swakopmund. • The interstate oil committee meets bi-annually to discuss and ensure regular • coordination on all matters related to petroleum products within the Customs Union. • Ithindi said the entire value chain is set to benefit from the recent oil discoveries. • Ithindi also said more oil storage infrastructure is needed to become more sustainable. • Ithindi further said that the discussions will focus on allowing the regional block to introduce policies to ensure it becomes a net oil exporter. • The seminar concludes on Thursday. @ministryofminesnamibia • #MME #MinistryOfMinesAndEnergy
