Yasawa Islands Fiji

We spent 3 weeks in the Yasawa Archipelago islands off the Northwest coast of mainland Fiji. The Yasawa volcanic group consists of six main islands and numerous smaller islets. South Sea Cruises operates a ferry boat service every day to the 20+ island resorts and lodges. So you just sit back and relax to paradise. • We started our trip with Nagalia Lodge on Wayasewa Island, a small, fun, family run operation with just 4 bures. We enjoyed home cooked meals with the workers playing guitars and singing. Dinner was typically followed with a Kava ceremony, dancing and playing games. There's a beautiful coral reef just in front of the lodge to enjoy snorkeling. The highlight was snorkeling with Whitetip Sharks on a nearby reef. We also enjoyed hiking up the hill behind the lodge for incredible views. • Our next stop was the nice Nabua Lodge at the very north of the Yasawa island chain on Nacula island. Here we enjoyed swinging in hammocks, kayaking and snorkeling on the local reef, as well as hiking the hills behind the lodge to enjoy beautiful sunsets. The Nabua lodge is located nearby to where the Blue Lagoon movie was filmed, which offered beautiful clear water snorkeling. A trip to the Sawa-i-Lau Caves was fun excursion. • Our last stop was the Barefoot Manta Island Resort on Drawaqa Island featuring newer glamping accommodations with an attached open-air bathroom and healthy coral reefs on 3 sides of the island. The highlight of this resort was its location right next to Drawaga Passage where we could snorkel with Manta Rays hang out during high tide. • Our favorite part was meeting wonderful people from all around the world. • • Our 🧭 compass now points Northeast to the beautiful Fiji Island of Taveuni.
