I had the chance to bring the Brocklehurst family to the Dakota Territory Air Museum in Minot, North Dakota to see a WWII P-40 Warhawk that their father flew. • P-40E, 41-5709, was brought up to Alaska in March 1943 and flew with the 18th Fighter Squadron out of Kodiak and Cold Bay, Alaska during the Aleutian Campaign. • Lt. Dennis Crisp was piloting -5709 when it was involved in a landing accident at the end of a two-ship element patrol. Crisp, who landed first on the left side of the runway was hit from behind by his wingman, Lt. Arbuthnot, who came in too hot, too far down the runway and was not able to stop. • The airplane was salvaged for parts then sent to the base dump on Cold Bay where it sat for decades until aviation architect Dick Odgers arrived to dig it up in 1987. Don Brooks eventually bought the P-40 and after many years of restoration, it finally came back to life in 2009! It was then sold a few more times until finally finally finding a home at the Dakota Territory Air Museum in Minot. • Thank you to all involved in bringing life back into this warbird allowing the stories of the airmen who flew it to live on. • Links to Bob's Flight: • ENTIRE FLIGHT: View the entire flight from inside the cockpit: •    • Bob Brocklehurst   Brian Norris in TF...   • NATIONAL FOX NEWS: Fox News Cameras inside the cockpit: • Fox News: •    • 96-year-old WWII pilot takes flight a...   • FB LIVE Landing: • FloridaBeachesToTheBeringSea • https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?... • To visit the Museum: • Dakota Territory Air Museum: • https://dakotaterritoryairmuseum.com/...
