DOS eliminates the need for thin film transistors by using a unique dual layer of Amorphous Selenium. The upper layer converts x-rays directly to the latent image, with the sharpness and DQE of direct capture. The lower, photoconductive layer is then activated with light, first for direct readout from the detector, and then to quickly clear the detector to prepare for the next image.
