You all know that I am a big fan of wines from the Southern Rhone in France. I am a big fan of Grenache and find the Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre combination intoxicating. • Some of my favorite wines IN THE WORLD are from Gigondas and Vacqueryas, two appellations very close to Rasteau so I felt like it made sense to explore these wines. • The good folks in Rasteau have made wines for years but their red wines always were labeled Cotes du Rhone Villages. However, the winemakers were persistent in proving their case that their unique soils and geography warranted their own appellation. • The wines must be at least 50% Grenache and a minimum of 20% Syrah/Mourvedre and that leaves a bit of interpretation to the winemakers from year to year. • The wine tasted in this episode is below: • 2016 Hommage du Rhone • Rasteau • Rhone Valley, France • https://www.vivino.com/hommage-du-rho... • • **Sign Up at Last Bottle Wines using the link below and you'll get a $10 credit toward your first purchase.** • https://www.lastbottlewines.com/invit...
