I couldn't find any videos showing the fridge method of hibernation for spur-thighed tortoises, so decided to video my own fridge setup and hibernation process. This part shows the preparation of the fridge. • Fridge hibernation is recommended by the Tortoise Trust and other tortoise care organisations. It take a bit of preparation but means that you can monitor your tortoise throughout the hibernation to prevent or resolve any problems quickly. • In contrast to the box method of hibernation I can monitor and change the temperature of the fridge if needed. They are also safe from predators such as rats.
