This ruined medieval complex in Pembrokeshire, South Wales was begun in the thirteenth century although most of what remains today were built during the first half of the fourteenth century under Bishop Henry de Gower, Bishop of St Davids. It had over 20 rooms, fishponds, orchards, fruit and herb gardens and areas of parkland with grazing deer. When Henry VIII dissolved the church he gave the palace to Richard Devereux and subsequently the Earls of Essex. The buildings may have been damaged during the English Civil War and were subsequently thought to have been used for farming purposes. • In this film, Ian wanders around and says the word Lavish a lot. He really can't seem to let that word go. It's not surprising though, this palace was, in its day, very lavish. • Follow us on social media: • Twitter:   / mostlycastles   • FaceBook:   / mostlycastles   • Instagram:   / mostlycastles   • Help us to make these films by becoming a Patron. • Patreon:   / mostlycastles   • Visit our website at http://www.mostlycastles.uk
