Did you know The Wizard of Oz completely changed how witches are portrayed forever? • Before the 1939 movie, witches didn’t have a standard look. Sometimes they were shown with orange or red skin in earlier art and literature to emphasize their connection to fire, hell, or demonic origins. But there wasn’t a consistent image. • The Wicked Witch of the West wasn’t even green in the original Wizard of Oz book!
