How to Paint a Vehicle Accessory • Preparing the Painting Surface • 1) Check color with the Test Card. • 2) Clean and remove the accessory from the vehicle. • 3) Assess the damage. • 4) Dry sand the accessory to remove gouges and scratches. • 5) For deep scratches, use the Putty to fill imperfections. Let the Putty dry. • 6) Wet sand the dried putty to smooth out the surface. • *TIP: Before painting, make sure to wet sand the entire accessory.This will help the paint adhere to the surface. • Preparing Your Accessory For Painting • 1) Clean and dry the accessory. • 2) Use Wax and Grease Remover Wipe to remove grease and oil. Move the Wipe in one direction over the damaged area. • 3) Remove any dust or fine particles by wiping the Tack Cloth lightly on the surface. • Let’s Paint! • 1) Clean and prepare the accessory for Primer application. • 2) Lightly apply the Primer with a short spurt motion. Apply 2-3 coats.
