As we Reach to Belong - and we look each to each - • We find the stress of relationships, social interactions, and our internal voices can create in us one heck of a set of traumatic experiences. Sometimes, one at a time, sometimes at all once. Also, we are living in a time where people are feeling incredibly strong about their needs, values, and identities while at the same time having absolutely zero tolerance for those who may feel differently, have different values, or identify differently. • My good humans if we mean to be understood, we must be willing to stay in the conversation long enough to understand! And that includes conversation we have with oursevlves. • Is everything we “know to be true” true? How much have we tested our theories and how much have we just accepted others’ visions or beliefs without asking deeper questions for ourselves? • Who does it help to never listen to opposing opinions or perspectives? • When we are in these difficult situations we may find our minds ourselves in one of two states, Dr. Dan Seigal tells us - A state of Hyperarousal - Where everything is overactive and your nervous system is overwhelmed - intense emotions, anxiety, panic, anger, or agitation. We could exhibit hypervigilance, rapid breathing, racing thoughts, or a fight-or-flight responses. • The b-side to this record is Hypoarousal: This state is characterized by an underactive and shut-down nervous system. Individuals in a hyperaroused state may show signs of dissociation, numbness, emotional detachment, or a freeze response. They may feel detached from their surroundings, experience a lack of energy or motivation, have difficulty concentrating, or show disengagement from relationships and activities. • As we know, regulating emotions and making rational decisions in this state becomes challenging. • Dr. Segal shows us that it is through the Windows of Tolerance where we can find a balance between Hyper and Hypo-arousal. • Can we teach ourselves how to tolerate? Can we accept that we have to learn what it tolerance means see it in a new way and not in the way that our current systems have been using it? Can we open the body, heart, and mind to tolerance as our ally and not an representation of oppression? • To have emotional tolerance is to know which emotions you can withstand and which you struggle to understand. In this instance it refers to the optimal range of arousal and emotional activation in which an individual can effectively cope with stressors and engage in daily activities. • Let’s focus on the wealth within. Let us reimagine these neural nets. Let’s jump the synaptic gaps and make new connections to the golden circuits of our consciousness where we are all as rich as we need to be. • Let us arrive with curiosity and without judgment. • Now, with Patience, Faith, and trust. Rather than impatience, indifference, and mistrust, LET’S BECOME who we are meant to be today... • This meditation seeks to help you let go of RESISTANCE and welcome in ACCEPTANCE of HOW our bodies feel. To help you find your way… to positive energy. It seeks to connect to the universe in you. It seeks to boldly go where no person has gone before - deeper and deeper into the epicenter of your circle. • Go here to access the Body Budget Inventory - https://nycid.org/wbp/ • Go here to learn more about Dr. Dan Siegel's Windows of Tolerance • • Window of Tolerance and Emotional Reg... • https://www.psychologytools.com/resou... • #weimprovelives #BodyMindHeartConnection #BMHC
