Why Foam Rolling is NOT myofascial release Part II suggesting alternative methodology

In part one we discussed why the benefits of foam rolling are NOT due to 'myofascial release.' Arguments presented included the fact that rolling cannot communicate directional loading inputs and thus cannot encourage connective tissue reorganization/restructuring over time; as well as the fact that during rolling, not enough time is allotted to induce alterations in fibroblastic activity. • Presented in this video is a suggestion that may help to induce more directional forces into the tissues. I still contest that rolling alone (even in this manner) will not alter tissue structure in any permanent way. However I would also say the same about other forms of soft tissue 'release.' Biological tissue requires multiple inputs over a period of time. Thus any 'soft tissue' work MUST be reinforced with proper training inputs (creation of internal load generation) in order to change tissue over time. • Also noted is the fact that the word 'release' is simply an analogy. I in no way believe that any form of soft tissue therapy breaks adhesions or releases scar tissue. Claims of these kinds are not logical when considering all that is know regarding how soft tissues respond to loading inputs. • http://www.FunctionalAnatomySeminars.com •   / functionalanatomyseminars   •   / drandreospina   •   / drandreospina
